CRF is actually very efficient and doesn't use that much CPU, especially in a dual PC setup.ĬRF will not just throw bits in faster motion scenes. Since you're using a dual PC, try CRF by using X264, but it depends on your CPU (please let me know what CPU you have in that other PC). CQP 14 is extremely high quality and will not work well for long recordings. However, increasing it to something like CQP 19 to 21 should save a lot more space and you shouldn't see that much degradation in quality unless you look really, really close. It will throw more bits into faster scenes and not really work to lower the filesize as much as CRF would. It is designed to push as much quality into a file as possible and it doesn't really care about saving space during faster scenes. It won't look that good and it won't be as efficient as CQP or CRF.ĬQP is not as efficient as CRF (even though CRF is not available on NVENC). Even though it could run at 4-8 Mbps during a low motion scene, it will just sit at 40 Mbps and end up wasting more space than even CQP.

Please correct me and why does it use more CPU if I am encoding with GPU. I don't believe there is a way to utilize that. Some recommend CBR at 40k but I am trying to use more GPU and less space, forcing my GPU to encode harder in exchange of file size since I will be doing 8-12h recordings. The format I am recording is CQP but the file sizes at 14 level are way bigger than what I would like. Not really utilizing the 1080ti for recording.

Streaming pc canvas and output at 1920p for streaming and recording at the same time. Gsync on and vsync on fast to remove tearing and that did the trick. Right now I have extended Display feeding OBS on my gaming pc and projecting it to the streaming pc. I have been messing with my dual pc setup for 3 days, day in - day out, to try and utilize my high-end dual pc setup for maximum performance and image.
